NGC 792 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Aries north of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 211 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 105,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 786 , NGC 803 , IC 192 , IC 1774 .
The object was discovered on September 7, 1828 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel .
