NGC 773 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 243 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 100,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky is the galaxy IC 1767 .

The object was discovered on November 27, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
