NGC 778 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 248 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 80,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky are the galaxies NGC 769 , NGC 777 , NGC 783 , NGC 785 , among others .

The object was discovered on November 5, 1866 by the American astronomer Truman Henry Safford .
