NGC 769 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation triangle at the northern sky . It is an estimated 203 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years across . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 777 and NGC 778 .
The object was discovered on November 9, 1866 by the American astronomer Truman Henry Safford .
