NGC 830 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is an estimated 173 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 829 , NGC 842 , IC 206 , IC 209 .
The object was by astronomer d'Heinrich arrest on September 23, 1865 using a 28-cm - telescope discovered.
