NGC 824 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active galaxy core of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 256 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on November 29, 1837 .
