NGC 872 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 191 million light years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter.
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on October 15, 1886 .
