Ernst Hodel (born March 15, 1950 ) is a former German soccer player who played 73 league games with seven goals as a midfielder at SV Alsenborn from 1971 to 1974 in the second-rate Regionalliga Südwest . From 1975 to 1980, the two following clubs SSV Jahn Regensburg and FC Homburg added another 138 second division games with 20 goals in the 2nd Bundesliga .

career

SV Alsenborn, 1971 to 1975

Ernst Hodel came to the 1971/72 season for three-time regional league champions from 1968 to 1970, SV Alsenborn. He had reached the runner-up in the 1. Amateur League Southwest with VfR Kaiserslautern in 1970/71 and played in the preliminary round in the competition for the German Amateur Championship against the Spfrde. Saarbrücken and recommended himself with his performances for Alsenborn. On August 22, 1971 he made his debut at the home game against SpVgg. Andernach in the regional league. He came on as a substitute for Wolfgang Röhring in the 78th minute in the 2-1 home win . On matchday 30, he ended the season with the SVA on May 7, 1972 with a 2-0 home win against 1. FC Saarbrücken. The newcomer had played 21 league games and scored two goals in the 1971/72 season , and with third place, he narrowly missed out on a return to the Bundesliga promotion round.

In the last year of the old second-rate Regional, 1973-74, he came under coach Werner Mangold in all 30 league games for use, scoring four goals. At the side of fellow players like Franz Schwarzwälder (goalkeeper), Walter Frosch , Gerd Schwickert , Peter Cordes , Bernd Krebs , Karel Nepomucky and Werner Kadel , he took tenth place with the SVA and was thus athletic for the new 2nd Bundesliga qualified for the 1974/75 season. Due to a lack of economic prerequisites, Alsenborn was ultimately refused the nomination by the DFB Federal Court and instead 1. FC Saarbrücken was promoted to the footballing lower house. Hodel went with the SVA in the Amateur League Southwest and signed a new contract after the round for the 1975/76 season with SSV Jahn Regensburg, the promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga.

Regensburg and Homburg, 1975 to 1980

At the club from the Upper Palatinate episcopal city, with the Red-Whites from Jahnstadion in Regensburg, Hodel made his debut under coach Aki Schmidt on the start of the round, August 9, 1975, in a 2-2 away draw at Eintracht Kreuznach in the 2nd Bundesliga. With 31 league games and five goals, he was part of the regular cast. However, “Der Jahn” fought continuously against relegation and ultimately stayed 17th in the 2nd Bundesliga only because of the voluntary return of license from Mainz 05. Midfielder Hodel increased his balance sheet to 35 league appearances with five goals in 1976/77, but Regensburg rose to 19th place in the table in the amateur camp. Outstanding in this round was the 3-0 home win on December 4th, 1976 against eventual champions and Bundesliga returners VfB Stuttgart . Hodel scored the 1-0 lead against the team of coach Jürgen Sundermann in the 11th minute . He signed a new contract for the new round in 1977/78 with fourth in the table from Homburg and moved to Saarland.

With the green-whites from the Waldstadion , he made his debut on August 6, 1977 under coach Uwe Klimaschefski in a 4-2 home win against FK Pirmasens in the league. With 3rd place, Homburg just missed promotion to the Bundesliga. Hodel had played 27 league games and scored three goals. In his second Homburg year, 1978/79, the place could not be held, at the end of the round the green-whites ended up in 7th place. With 36 league appearances and seven goals, Hodel was one of the top performers. In the third season, 1979/80, after the injury-related substitution on September 22, 1979 in a home game against Ulm in 1846, not only the season but also his professional career was over. In 1980 he was declared a sports disabled person and ended his high-class career after a total of 138 games in the 2nd Bundesliga with 20 goals.
