Palm Beach has been voted the cleanest beach in Queensland three times.

The parish division dates from the mid-1950s. Palm Beach stretches on both sides of the Gold Coast Highway , the local roads running across are consecutively labeled with the numbers 1 to 28. The narrow Jefferson Lane connects the streets between the motorway and the beach at the southern end of the village . There are some of the oldest buildings on the Gold Coast. In recent times, the expansion of the area to the west has resulted in new subdivisions with their own characteristics and a canal system. Some of the Gold Coast's most productive fishing grounds are off this coast and in the coastal waters.

In the south-western part of the district is Laguna Lake , which is surrounded by the Elizabeth Sloper Gardens . The Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park at the north end of Palm Beach offers holiday accommodation for families. The adjacent Tallebudgera Recreational Camp is a fitness camp attended by children from all over Queensland.

The Neptune Royal Life Saving Club was the first female-only lifeguard club in Australia. He still monitors the estuary of Tallebudgera Creek to this day. The association is independent and is the only one on the Gold Coast that does not belong to the Surf Life Saving organization .

Local sports clubs include the Palm Beach Sharks (soccer), the Palm Beach Currumbin Alleygators RUC ( Rugby Union ) and the Palm Beach Currumbin Australian Football Club .
