Damase Zinga Atangana

Damase Zinga Atangana (born December 9, 1964 in Nkog Bong , Cameroon ) is a Cameroonian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Kribi .

Life

Damase Zinga Atangana studied philosophy and theology at the Interdiocesan Seminary Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception (German: Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception ) in the Nkol-Bisson district of Yaoundé . On July 25, 1992 he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Obala .

After ordination he was rector of the boys' seminary in Efok until 1997 . He then went to France for further studies, where he received his doctorate in moral theology at Charles de Gaulle University and a diploma in history and religion. He also completed a special degree in bioethics at the Marc Bloch University in Strasbourg . After returning to his home diocese in 2003, he became vicar general of the diocese of Obala and at the same time pastor of the parish of Sainte Anne until 2010 . Since 2009 he has been responsible for further training for priests in Cameroon and since 2010 rector of the Obala Cathedral, which is currently under construction .

On November 7, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Kribi . The Apostolic Nuncio in Cameroon, Archbishop Piero Pioppo , donated him the episcopal ordination on December 8 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Yaoundé , Jean Mbarga , and the Bishop of Obala, Sosthène Léopold Bayemi Matjei .
