Piero Pioppo (born September 29, 1960 in Savona ) is an Italian clergyman, Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

The Bishop of Acqui , Livio Maritano , ordained him a priest on June 29, 1985 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on January 25, 2010 titular Archbishop pro hac vice of Torcello and Apostolic Nuncio in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea . He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on March 18 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Nestorius Timanywa , Bishop of Bukoba , and Pier Giorgio Micchiardi , Bishop of Acqui. As a motto he chose Quasi lignum super aquas .

On September 8, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Indonesia . In addition to this role, the Pope appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on March 19, 2018 .
