The Bistum Bukoba ( lat. : Dioecesis Bukobaënsis ) is an in Tanzania preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Bukoba .

history

The diocese of Bukoba was on December 13, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ob divinitus from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Bukoba as the Apostolic Vicariate Kagera Inferiore .

On March 25, 1953, the Vicariate Apostolic Kagera Inferiore by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Quemadmodum ad Nos raised to the diocese and renamed the Diocese of Rutabo . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Tabora as a suffragan . The Diocese of Rutabo was renamed the Diocese of Bukoba on June 21, 1960 . The Diocese of Bukoba was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mwanza as a suffragan on November 18, 1987 .

The name Rutabo has been listed as a titular bishopric since 2009 .
