St. Andreas (Altheim)
The Church of St. Andreas is a Catholic parish church in Altheim , a district of Blieskastel in the Saar- Palatinate district . The patron saint of the church is St. Andrew . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.
history
The first church was built between 1360 and 1390, and the choir tower has been preserved to this day. The basement of the tower housed the church choir . The tower was raised in 1499, which shows the year on the upper sound hole on the north side. In 1760 the nave was demolished and replaced by a baroque hall church from 1760 to 1763 . The plans for the new building came from the ducal Palatinate-Zweibrücken building director Christian Ludwig Hautt . Master builder Bastian Arnold ( Zweibrücken ) was responsible for the execution .
After being destroyed in the Second World War , the church was rebuilt between 1948 and 1949. In 1957 the tower was restored. In 1964 the church building underwent a restoration and conversion. During a renewed restoration in 1978, the church received a new altar .
architecture
The church building is a hall with five window axes . The tower with a pointed helmet is attached to the side of the nave , in the basement of which the sacristy is located, a ribbed vault can be seen. In the east wall of the sacristy there is a sacrament niche with remains of a wall painting . Until 1948/49 the church had a three-sided closed choir, which was replaced by a rectangular choir.
organ
The organ of the church was built in 1968 by the organ building workshop Hugo Mayer Orgelbau ( Heusweiler ) and has 16 registers , distributed over two manuals and pedal . The slider chests -instrument has a free-standing gaming table and is on a dais erected. The action mechanism is mechanical, the stop action is electric.
