Livio Maritano

Livio Maritano (born August 28, 1925 in Giaveno , † May 6, 2014 in Turin ) was an Italian clergyman and bishop of Acqui .

Life

Livio Maritano was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Turin on June 27, 1948 . For many years he was professor and rector of the seminary of the Diocese of Turin.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on October 19, 1968 auxiliary bishop in Turin and titular bishop of Opitergium . The Archbishop of Turin , Cardinal Michele Pellegrino , ordained him episcopal on December 15 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops of Turin, Francesco Sanmartino and Francesco Bottino .

On June 30, 1979, he was appointed Bishop of Acqui by Pope John Paul II . On December 9, 2000, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

Since 1990 he has been the promoter of the beatification of Chiara "Luce" Badano , who was beatified on September 25, 2010 in the Santuario della Madonna del Divino Amore in Rome .
