IC 223 is an irregular galaxy of the Hubble type IBm in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is around 69 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 20,000 ly. Together with NGC 899 and NGC 907 , it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy trio KTS 16 .
The object was discovered by Frank Muller on November 19, 1887 .
