In 1945 the Neutro-Werk was founded in Kölleda, in which materials (e.g. lamps, pots, fans and radio receivers) were manufactured from aircraft parts on a cooperative basis . In 1948 the plant was converted into the VEB Funkwerk Kölleda company. Here were sound systems (ELA) , hearing aids , communication devices ( intercoms , telephone systems ), speakers and Zugfunkausrüstung made. The successor company is Funkwerk AG with headquarters in Kölleda.

Due to the long history of electrical engineering at this location, the former school building (at Markt 3) was renovated in 2000 and the museum with a focus on Funkwerk Kölleda opened in it.

In 2014, a senior citizens' meeting place and an office of the administrative association were set up on the ground floor of the building.
