NGC 1050 is an active barred spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type SBa in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is an estimated 179 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Heinrich d'Arrest on September 27, 1865 .
