NGC 1033 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 325 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 175,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1042 , NGC 1047 , NGC 1048 , NGC 1052 , among others .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth in 1886 .
