NGC 1037 is an entry in the New General Catalog relating to a lost or nonexistent celestial body. This object was captured by Lewis Swift on September 29, 1886 .
It is also possible that NGC 1037 is the galaxy IC 243 , which was observed by the French astronomer Stéphane Javelle on January 26, 1892. Other databases, such as SIMBAD, link the object with the galaxy PGC 9973 .
