NGC 1035 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble-type Sc in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 55 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 35,000 ly. Together with NGC 1042 and NGC 1052 , it forms the galaxy triplet KTS 18 .

The type IIP supernova SN 1990E was observed here.

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on January 10, 1785 .
