The Ak Mosque (White Mosque ) is a building in Ichan Qalʼа , the historical city center of Chiwas , and part of the UNESCO World Heritage .

Building

The Ak Mosque was built in the 17th century. The builder was Anush Khan , who ruled from 1663 to 1687. The winter building or the Khanqah has a cone-shaped dome and a circumference of 13 meters by 9 meters. On three sides of the Khanqah are Iwane with wooden pillars that were used as a summer mosque. The Ak mosque has a peculiarity that is typical for chorzmic mosques: the place where the minbarn is installed is connected to the qibla . The minbar is in the south and not in the west of the building, as is typical for mosques in Bukhara or Samarkand . The windows of the winter mosque are decorated with ornate stucco grilles . The names of the craftsmen Chiwas Nur Muhammad and Kalandar and the manufacturing years 1838 and 1842 are incorporated on the doors, which have epigraphic and ornamental carvings . The Ak Mosque is a district mosque at Palwan-Darwaza , the east gate of the old town of Chiwas. Immediately next to her is the Anush Khan bathhouse .
