NGC 1021 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 259 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1007 , NGC 1009 , NGC 1016 , NGC 1020 .
The object was discovered on June 15, 1865 by the astronomer Albert Marth .
