NGC 1019 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble-type SBbc in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 327 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 1004 , NGC 1007 , NGC 1008 , NGC 1016 .
The object was discovered on December 1, 1880 by the astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan .
