NGC 1015 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 118 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light-years across.

The Type Ia supernova SN 2009ig was observed here.

The object was on 27 December 1875 by Wilhelm Tempel with a 11-inch - Telescope discovered.
