NGC 1034 is an irregular dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble-type Irr in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 64 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years in diameter.
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on November 12, 1886 .
