NGC 1064 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 413 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 135,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1033 , NGC 1048 , NGC 1071 , NGC 1078 , among others .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth in 1886 .
