NGC 1101 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 318 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 1095 .
The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on November 22, 1876 .
