NGC 1118 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 185 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on November 1, 1886 by the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift .
