NGC 1131 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 245 million light years from the Milky Way .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1129 , NGC 1130 , IC 265 , IC 266 .
The object was discovered by William Parsons on December 8, 1855 .
