NGC 1148 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type SD in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is an estimated 231 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 1152 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on November 10, 1885 .
