NGC 1159 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 with a high rate of star formation in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 123 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light-years across .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1164 and NGC 1171 .
The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on December 2, 1883 .
