NGC 1151 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E3 in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is estimated to be 405 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter. It probably forms a bound galaxy pair with NGC 1150 . The galaxies NGC 1157 , NGC 1158 , IC 276 , IC 1866 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The object was discovered by Francis Leavenworth on December 31, 1885 .
