NGC 1137 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 136 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter . Together with four other galaxies, it forms the NGC 1137 group ( LGG 79 ).
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 273 .
The Type Ia / P supernova SN 2010lp was observed here.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on October 17, 1885 .
