NGC 1138 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 110 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 266 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 24, 1786 .
