NGC 1129 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E3 in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 237 million light years from the Milky Way and about 200,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1130 , NGC 1131 , IC 265 , IC 266 .
The type Ib supernova SN 2007ke was observed here.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 17, 1786 .
