NGC 1129 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E3 in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 237 million light years from the Milky Way and about 200,000 light years across.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1130 , NGC 1131 , IC 265 , IC 266 .

The type Ib supernova SN 2007ke was observed here.

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 17, 1786 .
