The family company Möhringer is a global manufacturer of machines and systems for the woodworking industry based in Wiesentheid (Bavaria).

history

The company, now managed by the fourth generation of the family, was founded in 1885 in the Wiesentheid district of Feuerbach , Bavaria . With the emergence of the use of water power, there was for the first time enough energy available to mechanically saw logs. This gave the company founder and flag smith Peter Möhringer the idea of building saw frames - also known as frame saws - for the sawmills in the nearby Steigerwald . From 1915, with the help of the second generation, Simon Möhringer, machine works Simon Möhringer GmbH built saw gates in series. The all-steel construction of the gate is unique worldwide. Cold-formed quality steel is used instead of the usual cast stands. This eliminates the risk of breakage, as is the case with the cast construction. Möhringer is also the inventor and patent holder of unique developments in gate technology, including a. Feeding system, rapid feed, riving knife with chain bed and 4-way width adjustment.

In the 1960s, the product range was expanded to include mechanizations and conveyor systems . Friedrich "Fritz" Möhringer (born June 24, 1921 in Feuerbach; † November 7, 2009 ibid.), Third generation entrepreneur, honored with the Federal Cross of Merit in 2001 and made an honorary citizen of Wiesentheid, opened the second plant in the Wiesentheid industrial area in 1972, today the company headquarters and contributed significantly to the further development of the company.

The fourth generation has been involved since 1992. In 1999, under the aegis of today's sole managing director, Stefan Möhringer, the acquisition of Braun-Canali band saw technology and the further internationalization of the company fell. Today Möhringer is active on all continents with 130 employees and exports 80–90 percent of the annual output. The product range includes various sawing technologies for hardwood and softwood sawmills as well as automation technology. In 2019 Möhringer will build Europe's largest sawmill for unedged beech lumber in Croatia with an annual cutting capacity of 200,000 m³.

Awards

Due to the social commitment and the special measures to reconcile family and work, Möhringer was awarded the women's advancement award in 2000 and the award for social responsibility in medium-sized businesses from the Bavarian State Ministry in 2013.
