NGC 1106 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 199 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light-years across. Together with three other galaxies, it forms the NGC 1086 group ( LGG 78 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1122 , NGC 1130 , IC 258 , IC 259 .
The object was discovered on September 18, 1828 by the astronomer John Herschel .
