NGC 1124 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Chemical Furnace in the southern sky . It is an estimated 298 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years across.
The object was discovered in 1886 by the American astronomer Ormond Stone .
