NGC 1157 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is an estimated 394 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1150 , NGC 1151 , NGC 1158 , IC 276 .

The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on December 31, 1885 .
