NGC 1157 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is an estimated 394 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1150 , NGC 1151 , NGC 1158 , IC 276 .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on December 31, 1885 .
