The Forlidas Pond is a frozen and round pools with 100 m diameter in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . In the Dufek massif of the Pensacola Mountains, it is located in a moraine valley east and north of the Forlidas Ridge . It is the only pond in the northern Pensacola Mountains and therefore of interest to biologists .
It was first examined in December 1957 by an American team from Ellsworth Station as part of the International Geophysical Year (1957-1958). The American geologist Arthur B. Ford proposed the name of the Forlidas Ridge in the course of geological work carried out in this area between 1978 and 1979. Its namesake is Charles W. Forlidas (1935–1958), a radio operator at Ellsworth Station in the Antarctic winter of 1957.
