Formaldehyde releasers

Formaldehyde (also formaldehyde depot substances ) are chemical compounds which are microbicidal effective formaldehyde release, but less volatile and odor-intensive than this are.

Formaldehyde releasers are used as preservatives in many cosmetics . Common compounds are imidazolidinyl urea , diazolidinyl urea , DMDM hydantoin, and MDM hydantoin . Bronopol and Bronidox hardly release formaldehyde when used and have a different mechanism of action.

In the industrial sector are Benzylhemiformal , 1,6-dihydroxy-2,5-dioxahexane , methylolurea , 7-Ethylbicyclooxazolidin , methenamine , paraformaldehyde , tris (hydroxymethyl) -nitromethan and other compounds used.
