Forrester (port)

Forrester & Ca., SA ( Forrester or Offley Forrester for short ) is a manufacturer and trading company for port wines based in Vila Nova de Gaia near the Alto Douro wine-growing region in Portugal .

history

The company was founded in 1737 and is owned by the Sogrape Group . The name goes back to the relationship between the Scotsman JJ Forrester and the old port wine dynasty "Offley". William Offley was raised to the nobility of Barão at the beginning of the 19th century for his services to viticulture and agriculture in Portugal .
