The Forestry Chamber of Baden-Württemberg Waldbesitzerverband eV represents the interests of private and municipal forest owners in Baden-Württemberg .

tasks

The forest chamber, founded in 1974, represents the interests of private and municipal - i.e. non-governmental - forest owners in Baden-Württemberg vis-à-vis the parliament, the government and the public. In total there are around 230,000 forest owners in Baden-Württemberg - these are rural communities and cities as communal forest owners as well as forest farmers and large private family businesses as private forest owners. These non-governmental owners own three quarters of the forest in Baden-Württemberg, over a million hectares.

Since it was founded, the forestry chamber has published the specialist journal “Der Waldwirt” every two months.

history

The history of the forest chamber begins in 1912 with the establishment of the Baden Forest Owners Association in Villingen . A year later, in 1913, the Württemberg-Hohenzollern Forest Owners Association was founded as a counterpart. Both associations were dissolved in 1934, but re-established after the Second World War in 1945: the Baden Forest Owners Association for the area of southern Baden, corresponding to the French occupation zone, and the Forest Owners Association for Württemberg and northern Baden for the northern parts of the two countries, corresponding to the American occupation zone .

In 1947 the two associations began to cooperate and founded a working group. From this grew the amalgamation announced on November 12, 1973 at the founding event: the Forstkammer Baden-Württemberg Waldbesitzerverband e. V. It started work in 1974.

organization

The most important organ of the forest chamber is the general assembly, which is composed of the forest owners of the three groups of municipal forests or public corporations, large private forests and small private forests. The general assembly decides on the budget and the statutes and elects the 18-member committee. This is responsible for the fundamental questions of the work of the forest chamber, elects the board and appoints the full-time managing director.

The board consists of one representative from each of the three forest owner groups. It consists of the president and the two deputies. The president is the mayor of Buchen im Odenwald, Roland Burger. The current managing director is Jerg Hilt. The forest chamber has its seat in Stuttgart.

Others

The forest owner associations are represented at the federal level by the Working Group of German Forest Owner Associations (AGDW).
