Forest police
One of the oldest and most famous forest police authorities existed in Italy . The Corpo Forestale dello Stato , CFS was in action across the country. With staff from the CFS and the Carabinieri special units for consumer and environmental protection, a new Carabinieri command for forest, environmental, agricultural and consumer protection was formed in 2016 ( Comando carabinieri per la tutela forestale, ambientale e agroalimentare ). The six forestry police services in the autonomous regions of Italy, such as the National Forest Service in South Tyrol persist.
In France , the 10,000 or so officials in the Office national des forêts are responsible for protecting water and forests. The unit, which was founded in 1291 as a military corps, is now subordinate to the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture . It is responsible for hunting and fishing protection, nature conservation, combating the trade in endangered species and tracking environmental pollution.
In Kenya, the Kenya Forest Service was created to enforce nature conservation law and specifically to combat poaching .
