Viktor Viktorovich Kovalenko ( Ukrainian Віктор Вікторович Коваленко ; born February 14, 1996 in Kherson ) is a Ukrainian football player . The midfielder is under contract with Shakhtar Donetsk and is a Ukrainian international .
Career

Kovalenko comes from Shakhtar Donetsk's own youth and has been an integral part of the first team of the reigning Ukrainian runner-up Shakhtar Donetsk since July 1, 2015 . The midfielder made his league debut in Premjer-Liha in February 2015, when he was originally under contract with the second team and came on as a substitute in the 84th minute of the league game against Worskla Poltava . In addition to another appearance in the league, Kowalenko came to two appearances in the cup and a large number of appearances in the UEFA Youth League . In qualifying for the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League , Kowalenko made his first appearance in the European Cup in the third qualifying round against Turkish representatives Fenerbahce Istanbul when he came on in the 79th minute. After Donetsk there and in the play-off games against Rapid Vienna was able to prevail, the club to the UEFA Champions League 2015/16 participated, where in Group A at Real Madrid , Paris Saint-Germain and Malmo FF met. Kowalenko made five appearances in the group stage and Donetsk was eliminated from the Champions League in third place, but continued to play in the UEFA Europa League . National team
From the U16 junior national team onwards, Kowalenko played in all junior national teams in his country and was in the extended squad of the senior national team for the first time in September 2015 . He played his first full international match against Cyprus on March 24, 2016 when he came on as a substitute for the second half. Four days later he played against Wales for the first time over the full season on the left wing position. In June 2016, Kovalenko was added to Ukraine's squad for the 2016 European Championship in France . He was on the starting grid against Germany and Northern Ireland and was then substituted in the final quarter of an hour when his own team was behind. In the last game against Poland , he was only substituted in the last quarter of an hour. Then the tournament for Ukraine was over.
