Vitão , real name Vitor Eduardo da Silva Matos (born February 2, 2000 in Jacarezinho , Paraná ), is a Brazilian soccer player who has been under contract with the Ukrainian first division club Shakhtar Donetsk since September 2019 . The central defender has been a Brazilian U20 international since March 2018 .
Career
society
Born in Jacarezinho , Paraná , Vitão comes from the youth division of Palmeiras São Paulo , which he joined in 2015 after previously playing for the Paraná Soccer Technical Center . At Verdão , he developed into one of the country's greatest central defender talents. On March 21, 2019, he made his debut for the first team in the 1-0 home win against AA Ponte Preta in the Campeonato Paulista . This was his only mission for Palmeiras.
On September 2, 2019, the Ukrainian first division team Shakhtar Donetsk took over the services of the young defender and provided him with a five-year contract. The league crosus is known for engaging young Brazilian players, developing them and then reselling them at a higher price. However, Vitão had to wait until July 4, 2020 (7th matchday of the championship round) for his debut in the Premjer-Liha when he was in the starting line-up in the 3-2 away win against rivals Dynamo Kiev . He won the Ukrainian championship with the Hirnyky in the 2019/20 season.
National team
In March 2016 Vitão played for the Brazilian U17 national team for the first time . With this selection he took part in the U17 South American Championship in his own country in spring 2017 . As captain, he played eight games and led his team to victory. This victory qualified the U17s for the 2017 U17 World Cup in India , where he was also the captain. He completed all seven games over the full distance and finished third with the Seleção . This tournament formed Vitãos graduation in the U17, for which he played a total of 24 international matches and was able to record a goal.
In March 2018 he made his debut in the U20s and took part in the U20 South American Championship in Chile in spring 2019 , where he was captain in all nine games and only achieved a disappointing fifth place with the team.
