Mykola Oleksandrowytsch Matvienko ( Ukrainian Микола Олександрович Матвієнко , scientific. Transliteration Mykola Oleksandrovyč Matvijenko , FIFA spelling of English transcription. Mykola Oleksandrovych Matviyenko ; * 2. May 1996 in Saky ) is a Ukrainian footballer who at first division side FC Shakhtar Donetsk is under contract. The flexible defensive player has been the Ukrainian international since March 2017 .
Career
society
Matvijenko comes from Shakhtar Donetsk's youth department . The defensive player made his debut for the first team on August 22, 2015 in a 3-0 away win against Arsenal Kiev in the Ukrainian Cup . He played his first game in the top Ukrainian league on October 3 (matchday 10) in a 2-0 home win against Chornomorez Odessa . In this 2015/16 season he was used in another league game.
After he only made two appearances in the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League and one in the cup until February 2017 , Shakhtar Matviyenko loaned Karpaty Lviv for the remainder of the 2016/17 season , where he should have collected match practice at the first division level. He was there since his arrival and also played games on the left wing . On the last day of the season he scored his first league goal in a 1-1 draw against FK Sirka Kropywnyzkyj in his 14th appearance for Karpaty. For the following season 2017/18 he was loaned to Worskla Poltava until the winter break , for which he was used in 15 league games. He finished the season at Schachtar, where he completed two league appearances and won them with his club.
In the 2018/19 season he established himself as a rotation player under head coach Paulo Fonseca . On September 28, 2018 (matchday 10), he scored for the first time in the league for Shakhtar in a 6-1 away win against his former loan club Karpaty Lviv. In this season he has already played 18 league games in which he met three times. He made a significant contribution to defending his title and also played through in the 4-0 win in the cup final against FK Inhulez . In the following season 2019/20 he became a regular player in central defense under the new head coach Luís Castro .
National team
Mykola Matvijenko worked for various Ukrainian junior national teams, including the U19s at the 2015 U19 European Championships in Greece . On March 24, 2017, he made his debut in the 0-1 away defeat in the qualifying game for the 2018 World Cup against Croatia in the A selection.
