In the 2010/2011 season he was awarded to Volyn Lutsk . There he came on regular assignments in the Premjer-Liha . The following year he moved to Illichivets Mariupol . There he became a regular on the right side of defense and wore the captain's armband several times in the 2012/13 season.

At the turn of the year 2014/15 he got an offer from the Premjer League of Amkar Perm . He moved to the Russian club and was able to establish himself there immediately as a right-back.

National team

Butko was a member of several junior national teams in his country. With the U-19 he took part in the European Championship in 2009 , from which his team emerged as European champions. Butko was used in two preliminary round games before he sustained an injury and was out for the rest of the tournament. In 2011 he also took part in the U-21 European Championship and was used in all three preliminary round matches. Ukraine failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

2 September 2011 Butko debuted in the senior national team in a friendly against Uruguay . Since then he has been used regularly in international matches. He was also in the squad of Ukraine at the 2012 European Championship , where he was substituted on in the last group game and so came to his first appearance at an international tournament.

In 2013 World Cup qualification, Butko was in the squad several times, but was used less and less. For a long time he was then ignored, in the run-up to the European Football Championship in France in 2016 he was again included in the squad of Ukraine and played one half in each of the two direct preparation games. At the tournament he had his only appearance in the third game, where he was also in the starting line-up. Despite a good game, the team lost and was eliminated pointless and goalless.
