A forest tractor or forest tractor is an agricultural tractor equipped or upgraded for forestry use or a tractor specially designed for forestry and here exclusively or primarily for forwarding work.

In this respect, on the one hand, the specific equipment for forestry work such as cable winch , skidding blade , skidding crane , grapple, pile blade or front loader with hydraulic top grapples should be mentioned. On the other hand, there are various devices to protect the tractor and the tractor driver such as radiator protection, underbody protection or puncture-proof forest tires. In terms of construction, special forest tractors therefore differ considerably from commercially available agricultural tractors, and the transition to wood harvesters is fluid. However, normal tractors from agriculture are also used as forest tractors, which are equipped with corresponding additional units, protective equipment, etc.
