Fort de Rosny

The Fort de Rosny in the Seine-Saint-Denis department was one of the 16 forts that were built around Paris from 1840 onwards and that as a whole are called Thiers'sche city fortifications (French: Enceinte de Thiers). You should protect Paris from attack. During the siege of Paris in the Franco-German War in 1870/71 , it was shelled by German artillery. The fort is located about 10 km east of central Paris.

Construction of the fort began in 1840 and was completed in 1846.

The 4e 'régiment de zouaves' and from 1921 the 'Center Technique et Scientifique' (German technical and scientific center) of the national gendarmerie were stationed there between 1901 and 1920 .

In 1968 the Center national d'information routière (founded in 1966, now commonly known as Bison Futé ) moved into the fort .
